An Unreal Dream: The Michael Morton Story

In 1986 Michael Morton’s wife Christine is killed. Michael is charged with the murder. The court finds him guilty. He spends close to twenty five years in Texas prisons. Inside he has plenty of time to think about justice and innocence. The outside world has forgotten him. A team of lawyers, though, will not drop the case. They ask for DNA testing on a piece of evidence found at the scene. They fight for that right for years. The test is finally carried out. The result shows that Morton is innocent. He is released in 2011. Soon afterwards the real killer is found and convicted. Something else comes to light as well. The prosecution had withheld evidence in his favour. Michael Morton tells his own case in the ninety two minute documentary, an American production Al Reinert finished in 2013.
