Memories

Sam Alex lost his family to a murder, walked away from the police and disappeared into drink. When a series of strangely similar killings surfaces, he is called back. Whether the case intersects with his own past is what drives the film. Jeethu Joseph's Malayalam thriller builds its structure on steadily placed clues. It follows the known steps of the serial killer story without neglecting local texture; the investigation moves through Kerala's towns and bureaucracy. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Sam as a man refusing to pull himself together. The film is less interested in the murders than in whether this man can recover a function. Who it's for: Viewers who like serial killer procedurals, Malayalam thrillers, and detectives built out of trauma. Who it's not for: The killer's identity and motive stay inside the genre's usual shapes, and some plot resolutions lean too hard on coincidence.
