There the plan looked perfect; here we see what it cost the family across six years and where it finally cracks. It went straight to streaming. Shot during the pandemic, it was released on Amazon Prime in February 2021, and a Malayalam film of this scale bypassing cinemas was a significant signal at the time. The first film had been remade in six Indian languages; the sequel followed the same route, with the Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn released in 2022. Its strength is slowness. Almost nothing happens in the first half; information is placed piece by piece and all of it works in the final half hour. Who it is for: viewers who like Malayalam thrillers and meticulously plotted construction. Who it is not for: it means nothing without the first film, and the pace is deliberately very slow.
