Raid 2

Tax inspector Amay Patnaik is back on duty. His target this time is a politician popular with the public and known for his charity work. The raid goes ahead and the expected money is not found. Where he hid it is the film's central puzzle. Raj Kumar Gupta directed. Ajay Devgn plays Patnaik, Riteish Deshmukh the politician opposite him. It is the sequel to Raid from 2018 and keeps the same structure: one raid, a long search and institutional pressure. The interesting thing is the method: there is almost no action, and the tension comes from the search itself and the pressure of time. Making the opponent a beloved figure brings the public dimension forward; the crowd stands against the inspector. It did well at the Indian box office. The film never quite catches the tension of the first and repeats itself in the second half. Who it is for: viewers who like Indian thrillers and stories about corruption. Who it is not for: anyone who has not seen the first film; this is built directly on it.
