A thief who calls himself A carries out impossible robberies around the world: lifting a crown from a moving train, taking a painting out of a museum, appearing each time in a different disguise. Jai of the Mumbai police and his sidekick Ali go after him. Two women come between them: Sunehri, who partners with A, and Shonali, who works with the police. The film is not interested in how a robbery is done but in how good it looks. Logic comes second; what matters are the disguises, the carnival in Rio, a chase in the desert, and both sides admiring each other. The story does not set the thief up as a villain, and the ending says so plainly. Sanjay Gadhvi directed. Hrithik Roshan plays A, Aishwarya Rai plays Sunehri, Abhishek Bachchan plays Jai, Uday Chopra plays Ali and Bipasha Basu plays Shonali. Yash Raj Films produced. It is the second film of the series and on a far larger scale than the first, with shooting outside India in Brazil and Namibia. It was among the biggest earning Indian productions of 2006 and consolidated Hrithik Roshan's stardom. Who it is for: anyone who likes Bollywood action, heist films and star ensembles. Who it is not for: anyone looking for realism. The robberies are physically impossible, the script builds sequences rather than characters, and the comic passages interrupt the main line.
