Crime 101

Bart Layton's 2026 film follows a thief who robs jewellery couriers on the highways. He has gone uncaught for years. A detective notices the repetition in his method. The film watches the pursuit from both sides; the narrative makes the distance between a disciplined criminal and a stubborn policeman its real subject. It is adapted from Don Winslow's novella. Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo lead. The director was known previously for documentaries. Who it's for: those who like methodical, quiet crime films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting dense action; the film gives its weight to planning.
