What SPL 2: A Time for Consequences Is About
Kit, a police officer working undercover, is exposed and thrown into a Thai prison under a false name. In the same prison a guard, Chatchai, has a daughter with leukaemia, and the compatible marrow donor turns out to be exactly this inmate. On top of that sits the organ trafficking operation the warden runs inside the walls. Despite the name, Soi Cheang's film has no story connection to the first SPL and only inherits its hardness. Tony Jaa, Wu Jing and Zhang Jin fight in the same frame, and Zhang Jin as the warden in the last stretch is the best work in it. Made for twenty-three million dollars, it took over ninety. Who it is for: viewers who like Asian martial arts films and brutal choreography. Who it is not for: anyone with no patience for coincidence, since the script ties every knot by chance.
