It is Damián Szifron's first film in English, after Wild Tales. Shailene Woodley and Ben Mendelsohn star. It was called Misanthrope during production. Shooting ran in Montreal from January to March 2021. Vertical Entertainment took distribution and released it on 21 April 2023. Reviews split. Rotten Tomatoes has 52 percent of 82 reviews positive, with a consensus that Szifron's stylish direction and fine performances bolster it while a derivative script throws it off course. Metacritic sits at 43 from 11 critics. In limited release it took 3.1 million dollars internationally. Who it is for: viewers who like profiling narratives and cold urban thrillers.
