An Unusual Exhibition

The war comes to an end. A soldier returns home. Before the war he was a sculptor. He was young and gifted. He marries once he is back. Children come. Making a living becomes the question. He has to find work. The work he finds is making gravestones. He keeps at it for years. Time passes. One day he goes to a cemetery with friends and looks at the stones he made, seeing them this time with other eyes. The story is set in Georgia. Guram Lortkipanidze, Valentina Telichkina, Vasili Chkhaidze and David Abashidze appear in the eighty nine minute film, built like a parable, a Soviet production Eldar Shengelaia finished in 1968.
