And the Little Prince Said

Ten-year-old Violette is diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her parents are divorced. Her father, a scientist, lifts her off the examination table at the clinic, puts her in the car and drives off, behaving as if the illness could be left behind. The two of them travel for days. The father does not tell the girl what is happening, but she already knows. Christine Pascal's film is not about the illness but about how the adults stand in front of it: the father runs, the mother collapses, the stepmother, who is a doctor, lists the course of treatment. The only calm person is the child. The film does not turn this into emotional exploitation; nor does it make Violette a wise child, only someone who has accepted the situation. Richard Berry plays the father and Lucie Phan plays Violette. Anémone is in the cast. The director also wrote the screenplay and had worked as an actress before.
