And Tomorrow You Will Be Dead

In 2011 a young Swiss couple, Daniela Widmer and David Och, set out on a journey they had dreamed about for a long time: along the Silk Road into Pakistan. They were kidnapped on the way, taken to Waziristan and handed over to the Taliban. For eight months they were held hostage in extremely severe conditions. Through all of it they knew neither that they would be rescued nor that they would see the next day. Michael Steiner's film is based on the book the couple wrote themselves. The telling does not build a political argument; it gives the event as two people's daily effort to stay alive: cold, hunger, uncertainty and putting up with each other. In the end the two of them managed to escape. The film opened the Zurich Film Festival in 2021. Morgane Ferru and Sven Schelker play the couple.
