Angadi Theru

The life of Jyothi Lingam, a bright pupil living happily in his village, is overturned when his father, the only earner in the house, dies in an accident. To support his family the young man goes to the city and takes a job in a large store. Conditions there are hard: long hours, low pay, constant supervision and a crowded life in a dormitory. The film tells that arrangement through the daily lives of individual people, and it set out from a true story. What holds the account together is not the workers’ complaints but the small habits and attachments they form among themselves. Anjali and Mahesh appear in Vasanthabalan’s hundred and sixty minute Indian film, completed in 2010.
