The Sky Is Pink

Aisha Chaudhary is born with a hereditary condition affecting her immune system and her parents move to London for treatment. Years later she needs a lung transplant, and the treatment itself produces a new illness. The film tells the story after Aisha's death, in her voice; the narrator is dead and says so at the start. Shonali Bose worked from a real family; Aisha was a motivational speaker and died at eighteen. At the centre is not the sick child but the marriage: two people trying for twenty-five years to keep one child alive lose each other. Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar star. It played in Toronto. Who it is for: viewers who like family drama and true life stories. Who it is not for: anyone who must avoid childhood illness and death.
