Animal Factory (2000): Plot, Cast & Where to Watch

What Animal Factory Is About

A young man sent to prison comes under the protection of a senior inmate who understands the arrangement inside, and the protection is not free. Steve Buscemi refuses to turn it into a display of violence: the prison functions less as an action set than as a workplace with rules. Willem Dafoe plays someone who is neither villain nor rescuer but could be either, and the film leaves that unresolved. The pace is deliberately low and the days resemble each other, because the real subject is time.
