Dopamine

Teddy Soeria Atmadja's 2025 Indonesian film follows a young couple in debt. They are about to be evicted, cannot pay the accumulated interest, and neither of their families is in a position to help. An unexpected event offers what looks like a way out, and from there it becomes a crime story. The film puts the relationship at the centre of the conflict: one of them accepts the risk while the other wants to step back, and the matter becomes one of trust rather than money. It uses the spiral of debt and rent facing a young generation in Indonesia not as background but as direct cause. The tone is dark and the pace high. Angga Yunanda and Shenina Cinnamon star. Who it's for: viewers who like crime drama and recent Indonesian cinema. Who it's not for: anyone expecting a hopeful ending; the film does not give one.
