Animal Heart

Paul lives on a mountain farm in the Swiss Alps. He is a coarse and hard man. The only things he feels for are his animals. Things between him and his wife Rosine are very bad. She is ill and he will not accept it. He gives her the medicines he keeps for the animals. Rosine grows weaker by the day. She can no longer do the work. Paul hires a hand for the heavy jobs. Eusebio is a seasonal worker who came from Spain. Paul treats him no better than he treats his wife. Rosine, for her part, is kind to Eusebio. Paul grows suspicious and turns his violence on her. Rosine is taken to hospital. That leaves the two men alone on the farm. In those days Paul begins to look at himself. The film was named best picture at the Swiss film awards. Olivier Rabourdin and Antonio Buíl appear in the ninety one minute film, a Swiss and French production Séverine Cornamusaz finished in 2009.
