What Anne Frank Remembered Is About
Jon Blair's 1995 documentary tells the story of the Frank family through previously unreleased archive material and interviews with people who lived through those days. It shows Anne Frank not only through her diary but as the people who knew her describe her: talkative, restless, a child who got difficult. Miep Gies, who helped hide the family and saved the diary, is one of the film's sources. Kenneth Branagh narrates and Glenn Close reads from the diary. The documentary won the Academy Award for best documentary feature. It does not change the ending or soften it, and it does not reduce Anne to a victim either.
