Arn: The Kingdom at Road's End

Arn Magnusson completes his twenty-year penance in the Holy Land and returns to Sweden. Cecilia, the woman he left behind, is still in the convent, and the country is on the edge of civil war. Arn wants to stop fighting, but where he returns to, the quarrel between his own family and the crown pulls him in. Peter Flinth adapted the second and third books of Jan Guillou's trilogy as the close of a two-film production. At the centre is how the military knowledge he learned in the East changes the Scandinavian order of battle, and the final engagement rests on that. It was among the most expensive Scandinavian productions of its moment, shot largely in Sweden and Morocco. Who it is for: viewers who like medieval epics and large-scale battle. Who it is not for: anyone who has not seen the first film.
