What Avalanche Is About
Goro is the son of a wealthy family. He eloped to marry Fukiko. The marriage cracks before its first year is out. He feels nothing for his wife. Yayoi then comes back into view. She is Fukiko’s cousin. She is also the girl Goro loved as a child. He turns towards her. In his head he starts planning a divorce so that he can marry her. His father is against it and holds that a husband must carry his responsibility. The film watches a one year marriage come apart at close range, quietly and without raising its voice. It comes from a novel by Jiro Osaragi. Noboru Kiritachi and Hideo Saeki appear in the fifty nine minute film, a Japanese production Mikio Naruse finished in 1937.
