Dad, Make Me Marry

Mahir works at a pharmaceutical factory. He and Sevim, the daughter of Fazil Bey who owns the place, were once involved, which is why her father sent her abroad. Now she is coming back. At the same time Fazil Bey's younger son Erol is in trouble: Sermin, whom he met at a bar, has left a baby with him and gone. Erol tries to hide the baby at home, Sevim catches him at it, and comes up with a plan to get her brother out of it. Directed by Oksal Pekmezoglu, it is one of the few films in which Baris Manco took the lead. It runs on the standard Yesilcam machinery of the rich father, the forbidden romance and the hidden baby; what actually carries it is the music. Manco on stage, and the songs, are why it still holds up.
