The Chaos Class Is Waking Up

The fourth film in the Hababam Sinifi series. This time sport is the issue at the school: the class tries to prove itself by achieving something while keeping its usual order running. The cheating, the schemes, the traps set for teachers and the endless conflict with the administration are all where they were. Ertem Egilmez directed, from a screenplay by Umur Bugay. The source is Rifat Ilgaz's text of the same name, a play published in 1972 as the fourth book in his Hababam Sinifi series. Turhan Selcuk drew the illustrations for the book. Like everything else in the series, the text looks at the Turkish education system from a pupil's height, describing school administrators and teachers from there. The film was released in 1976. Who it is for: people who know the series and like the ensemble comedy of Yesilcam. Who it is not for: anyone expecting the series to move. The film repeats the same shapes, and the tiring of the formula as the series goes on is felt here too.
