The Stupid Millionaire

On his deathbed, Behcet tells his four sons, Saffet, Himmet, Hayret and Gayret, to go to Istanbul and find his old army friend Mehmet Cavus, who holds a treasure map that belongs to them. The four brothers reach Istanbul and go after the map. The city cheats them at every step. What they work out in the end is that the treasure was already under Mehmet Cavus's house. Ertem Egilmez directed. Sadik Sendil wrote the screenplay and Nahit Ataman produced. The cast is the Arzu Film company of the period: Kemal Sunal, Zeki Alasya, Metin Akpinar, Munir Ozkul, Hulusi Kentmen, Halit Akcatepe, Adile Nasit, Perran Kutman and Meral Zeren. It is one of a run of Egilmez comedies shot in the same period out of the same pool of actors; a year later most of the same people would come together on Hababam Sinifi. Who it is for: viewers who like Turkish popular comedy of the era and ensemble playing. Who it is not for: anyone expecting a plot. The script is a pretext and the film moves scene by scene on sketch logic.
