The Blue Bead

The strangest thing here is that the star plays herself. Emel Sayın is Emel Sayın in the film, a famous singer performing at a nightclub. Six friends go to that club, are badly treated, and decide to take revenge on the owner by kidnapping the singer. They pull it off, then treat her well. Over time she gets used to them and becomes part of the household. The cast puts every Arzu Film asset on the table at once: Tarık Akan, Zeki Alasya, Metin Akpınar, Halit Akçatepe, Kemal Sunal, Münir Özkul, Adile Naşit and Perran Kutman. Zeki Alasya and Sadık Şendil wrote it; Ertem Eğilmez directed and produced. The title song outgrew the film and became one of Emel Sayın's best-known recordings, composed by Alekper Tağıyev. Shooting took place in 1974 around Yeşilköy, Beyoğlu, Taksim, Beşiktaş and Sarıyer, and the film opened on 1 January 1975. Who it is for: viewers who want to see the largest Yeşilçam comedy ensemble assembled in one place. Who it is not for: anyone who interrogates the premise. The kidnapping does not read as innocently now as it once did, and the film never worries about it.
