Baby Boy

A twenty year old with children by two women, still living in his mother's house, takes on no responsibility. When his mother's new partner moves in, the arrangement breaks. The film does not defend him and does not skip the conditions either; the narrative argues over how much of what keeps him from adulthood is his surroundings and how much is his own choice. The street scenes were shot on location. John Singleton wrote and directed, with Tyrese Gibson and Taraji P. Henson, and Ving Rhames in support. A real warning: there is gun violence, domestic violence and explicit sex. The film was also criticised for how it treats its women characters.
