Barefoot at Dawn

It is February 1927. Young Félix is out delivering wood with his father. That is when he meets Fidor. Fidor comes from a poor household. He is nothing like the people Félix is used to. A strong friendship grows between the two. The film is set in a quiet village in Mauricie. It is the last year Félix will spend with his family. In the autumn he leaves to study at a college. A great deal happens in the months between. Love and death both fall into those months, and that is how a childhood closes. The film comes from Félix Leclerc’s book of 1946, and it was directed by the writer’s son Francis Leclerc. Roy Dupuis and Claude Legault also appear in the hundred and fourteen minute film, a Canadian production finished in 2017.
