What Looking for Alexander Is About
Alexandre Tourneur, a veterinary surgeon, wakes from a long coma and tries to put his life back together. But the memories that return are disturbing and violent, and the people closest to him do not remember the things he describes. Who was driving the vehicle that hit him, what his family is keeping from him, and how much of what is in his head actually happened all open up slowly. The film turns a story of memory loss into a family history and keeps the viewer inside the same uncertainty as the man; we do not know whose images these are either, right to the end. Roy Dupuis plays the lead in Francis Leclerc’s hundred minute film from Quebec, completed in 2004.
