Before the Bat's Flight Is Done

Robi lives in a gloomy apartment block in Budapest. He shares the flat with his mother alone. His father left them years ago and went to Switzerland. The boy is withdrawn and says little. He has trouble connecting with anything around him. He plays the flute and takes no pleasure in that either. His mother works in a coffee shop and is worn out with it. One day a man called Laci comes into the house. He is confident and speaks well. He wins the woman over quickly. Then he moves in with them. The man works at getting close to the boy as well. In time his persistence turns strange. It becomes clear that his interest is not innocent. It also comes out that Laci is a plain clothes policeman. Róbert Csontos and Erika Bodnár appear in the ninety one minute film, a Hungarian production Péter Tímár finished in 1989.
