Before Tonight Is Over

The account runs through a single night. The place is a ski resort in the High Tatras. Different people are sitting at the tables in the bar. Two women clerks have come to spend their savings. They want a few days of ease. Two plumbers are there as well. What those two want is an adventure. A building contractor has sunk into drink. He is set on getting through his workers’ wages. There is also a former major. The man took to drink after political persecution. As the night goes on each of them talks about himself. Dreams and disappointments come out onto the table. Jana Gýrová and Stano Dančiak take the leads in Peter Solan’s Czechoslovak film of 1966.
