Bending the Arc

The documentary is about medical work that began thirty years ago in a village in Haiti. Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim and Ophelia Dahl went there to treat patients nobody was attending to. What they did grew in time into a global fight; they took the argument that health is a right for everyone into the rooms where decisions are made. The film follows that line of objection to the idea that diseases like tuberculosis cannot be treated in poor countries. The account stands openly with these people and does not hide it. How a practice in one village turned into a politics stands at the centre. Who is counted as worth treating is the question the film keeps returning to. The hundred and two minute American documentary by Pedro Kos and Kief Davidson was completed in 2017.
