Between Sweet and Salt Water

Claude grew up in a small town. The town is on the Côte-Nord shore. One day he leaves it and goes to Montreal. In the city he takes whatever he can find. He works a string of odd jobs. He meets Geneviève, a waitress at a diner. The two of them become attached. What Claude really cares about is music. He enters a singing contest. The contest opens doors for him. His name starts getting around. As he becomes known, his life changes too. He has a brief affair with a married woman. He and Geneviève break up. When he goes back to his home town, it is not what it was. The fame comes, and it comes with a price. Claude Gauthier and Geneviève Bujold appear in the eighty five minute film, a Canadian production Michel Brault finished in 1967.
