Pawlak and Kargul have been neighbours for years, at each other's throats for years, and are grandfathers to the same girl, Ania. When an invitation arrives from Pawlak's brother John in America, all three of them go to Chicago, where they discover John has died and they have arrived in time for the funeral. That leaves one task: finding the daughter nobody knew he had. The comedy is entirely two Polish villagers loose in America. The last film in Sylwester Chęciński's trilogy, a series generations in Poland grew up on. It can also be read as a portrait of America seen from inside the Soviet bloc.
