What Big George Foreman Is About
A young man raised in poverty and unable to control his anger is steered into boxing and becomes champion. Then he leaves the ring to preach, and comes back years later. Having to tell two careers, the film moves fast; the narrative puts its weight on the return and on an older athlete not being taken seriously. The ring scenes are kept limited. George Tillman Jr. directed, with Khris Davis in the lead and Forest Whitaker as the trainer. It follows the life of a real boxer. Who it's for: those who like sports biography and comeback stories. Who it's not for: viewers curious about the technical side of boxing; the film follows the faith and family line instead.
