What Biking Borders Is About
Max Jabs's 2021 German documentary follows two close friends cycling from Berlin to Beijing. The journey itself is not the point for Max and Nono: they are trying to collect enough in donations to have a school built. They carry the camera themselves for most of it, so the footage sits somewhere between a travel video and a diary. Borders, visa trouble, broken bicycles, unfamiliar kitchens and the hospitality of complete strangers pass by along the way. The documentary does not claim that doing good is easy; it shows how tiring it is. A short, warm road film that does not overreach.
