Steven Okazaki's documentary follows five young people using heroin in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco across three years. The camera stays beside them: the daily shape of addiction, the ways of finding money, prison, illness, and the attempts to stop that come and go. Within those three years a fatal overdose also comes in front of the camera. The film neither lectures nor reduces the subject to a warning poster; it is about people rather than cases.
