Bloody Friday

Klett is sprung from the courthouse and, with the two men waiting outside, sets about planning a bank robbery. He has heavy weapons taken from an American base. A young girlfriend and a soldier who has gone absent without leave join the crew. The plan looks flawless. But it goes wrong at the first step and the robbery turns into a hostage crisis. Rolf Olsen's German film was inspired by a real case in Munich in 1971; that robbery was the first bank raid in Germany involving hostages, and it ended with the deaths of one hostage and one of the robbers. The film does not document the case, it turns it into genre. Raimund Harmstorf takes the lead. Its level of violence was considered high for the time.
