Blue, White and Perfect

Mike Shayne works as a private detective. His girlfriend does not care for the work. To win her back he makes a promise. He will give up detective work. He takes a job at an aircraft plant. But no sooner has he started than something happens. Diamonds have been stolen from the plant’s safe. They are industrial stones. Shayne starts following the trail. He uses false identities for it. The trail leads him first to a dress factory. Then to an ocean liner bound for Hawaii. Several attempts are made on his life along the way. In the end he uncovers a smuggling ring. But where the diamonds are is still unknown. Lloyd Nolan and Mary Beth Hughes take the leads in Herbert I. Leeds’s American film of 1942.
