Bomb It

The documentary tells the history of graffiti across five continents in the words of the people who write on the walls. The camera mostly films them at work, at night and unannounced. The account starts from origins that reach back to cave painting, comes to the explosion in New York in the seventies and eighties, and then follows how the same fire jumped to other continents. Whether writing on a wall is art or a crime is a question the film leaves open throughout. TAKI 183, Blek Le Rat, Shepard Fairey, Os Gêmeos, Cope 2 and Kid Acne appear in Jon Reiss’s ninety three minute American documentary; it was completed in 2007.
