Bombay to Goa

Mala, who wants to be an actress, witnesses a murder and boards a bus bound for Goa to escape the killer. Along the way she meets people from different places and different circumstances, and a young man who will not leave her side. The film takes place almost entirely inside the bus and at the stops along the road. The account mixes suspense with comedy and gives each of the passengers a short scene of their own. It is one of the known examples of the road film mould in Indian cinema of 1972. The songs are set inside the journey. The killer on their trail moves the story along, but the real interest lies in the types among the passengers. Aruna Irani and Amitabh Bachchan appear in S. Ramanathan’s hundred and thirty seven minute Indian film, completed in 1972.
