What Boomerang Family Is About

A forty eight year old film director whose work is going badly moves back into his mother’s house. His fifty year old brother is already living there; soon his sister arrives too with her daughter, and three middle aged siblings are gathered under the same roof. The mother takes them all in and the house is suddenly as crowded as it was in childhood. The account gives this not as drama but as the comedy of people who know each other far too well; the quarrels and the reconciliations are all left over from before. It was adapted from a novel. Park Hae-il and Youn Yuh-jung appear in Song Hae-sung’s hundred and twelve minute Korean film, completed in 2013.
