What Brij Mohan Amar Rahe! Is About
In Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s 2017 Hindi film, Brij Mohan fakes his own death to get out of a life that bores him. It works for a while: money comes through, debts clear, and he starts again under another name. Then a body turns up, and Brij Mohan is tried for his own murder and sentenced to death. The black comedy comes from exactly there: rather than catching the fraud, the system takes the fraud’s own logic and applies it all the way to the end. It plays out in the small-trader world of Delhi. Arjun Mathur plays Brij Mohan, and the film went out through Netflix.
