Wes is eight, and his family has come apart after a loss. His parents are not speaking. One day Wes announces his conclusion: he is in fact a Mongolian goat herder and was born in the wrong place. He wears a felt hat, makes Mongolian sounds around the house, and gets mocked for it at school. His mother Alise is angry at first, then sees that this is the only thing her son is holding on to. Along with an Indian film student, the three of them actually go to Mongolia. Jordan Roberts directs, adapting Robyn Joy Leff's short story, with Vera Farmiga as Alise, Jacob Tremblay as Wes and Suraj Sharma as the film student. A hundred and two minutes. A film that sat unreleased for years before being found on streaming.
