Buud Yam

Wend Kuuni is a young man now. As a child he was given to a family to raise. His mother had been accused of witchcraft and killed. That accusation still follows him. His adoptive sister Pughneere falls ill. Suspicion in the village turns towards him. Wend Kuuni has to find a remedy. He sets out to look for a healer. The road is long and uneasy. He meets many people along it. Each meeting teaches him something. The journey turns into one of knowing himself. The story is set at the start of the nineteenth century. The film continues Wend Kuuni and took the grand prize at FESPACO in 1997. Serge Yanogo and Amssatou Maïga appear in the ninety seven minute film, a Burkinabé production Gaston Kaboré finished in 1997.
