By My Side Again

At the centre of the account are three sisters. They are called Gloria, Ana and Lidia. The three have been apart for years. One day their mother Adela dies. The death brings them together in one place. Adela spent her last thirty years in silence. In all that time she did not say a word. But she left written instructions behind. Her wishes are set out clearly in them. The wishes are not of the usual kind. The sisters have to carry them out. The task puts them side by side. Old matters between them open up again. Mercedes Sampietro and Julieta Serrano take the leads, with Adriana Ozores also in the cast, in Gracia Querejeta’s French and Spanish coproduction of 1999.
