Jimmy meets Anu on an online dating site and quickly decides to marry her. His mother is uneasy and asks his cousin Kevin, a software engineer, to look into her. Kevin finds nothing at first. Then Anu disappears and what is left behind is a video recording. Kevin takes the search seriously, and what he finds is not a woman running away but a much darker arrangement. Mahesh Narayanan's film takes place entirely on a computer screen: video calls, messages, file folders and security camera footage. It was the first film in India made in that form. The production was shot during the pandemic lockdown, entirely on a phone, and runs ninety-eight minutes. Behind the narrative sits the situation of migrant women deceived into work in the Gulf. Fahadh Faasil plays Kevin and is also one of the producers. Who it's for: Viewers who like screen-based narrative, Malayalam thrillers, and low-budget formal experiment. Who it's not for: The form is tiring for some; everything happens in small windows. The explanation in the final section also arrives quickly.
