Unbreakable

M. Night Shyamalan's 2000 film follows David Dunn, who walks away from a severe train crash without a scratch. A man who sells comics tells him it was not chance. David does not believe him at first. The film places the superhero shape inside a realist drama; the narrative moves slowly and closes with information that changes the point of view. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson lead. The use of colour and the held frames come forward. Two later films by the director continued this story. Who it's for: those who like slow pacing and genre experiment. Who it's not for: viewers expecting action; the film contains almost no fighting.
