Can Go Through Skin

Marieke is assaulted. What she goes through changes her life. She leaves the order she had in the city. She moves to a house on her own in the countryside. The place she lives is a farmhouse. The house is far out and there is no one around it. In winter everything freezes over. Through the winter her fears do not let go of her. Even small sounds put her on edge. The days pass alone. Then spring comes. What the winter rotted turns green again. Marieke begins to feel curious about what is outside. Her neighbour John wants to help her. Slowly she accepts that help. Rifka Lodeizen and Wim Opbrouck take the leads in Esther Rots’s Dutch film of 2009.
