Can't Hardly Wait

A graduation party fills a single house for one night. A boy who has been in love with the same girl for four years decides to hand over his letter tonight. The film compresses its plot into one night and one house; the narrative follows not a single person but five or six small stories running at once. Its real subject is not love but the fact that after tomorrow none of them will see each other again. Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan wrote and directed it together. It is among the most remembered of the late nineties high school films. Who it's for: those who like the teen comedy of the nineteen-nineties. Who it's not for: viewers wanting depth of character; the film uses its types as types on purpose.
