What Carmen & Lola Is About

Carmen, a young woman in a Roma family, has the same life laid out in front of her that every generation before her had: marry, and raise as many children as possible. Then she meets Lola, a girl who wants to go to university, paints graffiti on walls and fits none of the moulds around her. The closeness that forms quickly between them shows Carmen another life is possible, and just as inevitably it runs into rejection from both families. Arantxa Echevarría cast largely non professional actors, and the result is warm and merciless at the same time.
