What Chaar Sahibzaade Is About
The animated film tells the end, in 1704, of the four sons of Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. The two elder sons, Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh, are killed at the engagement at Chamkaur, where a party of forty held out against a Mughal army. The two younger sons, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, are taken to Sirhind and put to death there on the governor’s orders. The film recounts one of the most remembered events in Sikh history, and its voice work was deliberately left unnamed; only the narrator, Om Puri, was announced. Harry Baweja’s hundred and twenty eight minute Punjabi language film was completed in 2014.
