Cherry Tobacco

Laura is a girl of seventeen. She lives in a small town and she is bored. Her friend Merit talks her into going on a hike. The group is heading out to a bog. The guide for the walk is a man named Joosep. He is middle aged and knows the land well. Laura is quiet and Joosep is talkative. At the start there is a tension between them. The longer the walk goes on, the differently she begins to see him. His roughness and his ease draw her interest. She cannot put a name to what she is feeling. The film suggests this rather than showing it outright. Glances, small gestures and smells carry the story. Laura has to decide what it is she is living through. Whether it is a stop on the way to growing up or truly love is left open. Maris Nõlvak and Gert Raudsep appear in the ninety two minute film, an Estonian production Andres Maimik and Katrin Ruus finished in 2014.
